Which Essential Oil Company Do I Choose?
Which essential oil company do I choose seemed to be my biggest question when I started using essential oils about 4 years ago. It was such a difficult question to answer! However, the company I eventually chose I believe is the best! I absolutely love everything about them!
So, which essential oil company do I choose?! Extensive research was done! (Type A personality here!) I searched endless blog sites, articles, companies and opinions. I tried multiple oils from multiple companies for myself to see which would work the best. The hardest part was finding the most pure oils at a reasonable price. There seemed to be so many companies out there saying they sell the best product. So how in the world do you decide?! Here is how I narrowed it down.
~Disclaimer: If you do buy essential oils from my site, I may receive a commission. My promise is that I only promote companies I use all the time, trust and have superb products! If you would like to read more about the tiny amount of money I make from this blog…. click here.~
The first thing I did when researching which essential oil company was best was buy a paperback book. Sometimes information on the internet is biased or untrue. I did not want to start off with conflicting information. Therefore, I bought this book on Amazon and read all about essential oils. I would definitely recommend doing some research on oils themselves and how they have been used for centuries before choosing a company. By reading this book, I learned which oils are used for what purpose, how to use oils safely, and how to mix different oils together. All my oil knowledge came from that book!
Now that I knew some basic information about oils and what they are used for, I started my search on where to buy them.
When looking for which essential oil company I wanted to buy from, I started with the quality of their oils. I researched a ton of companies, and the three I found that really had the best quality were Rocky Mountain Oils, Young Living, and doTerra. I knew if I bought oils from any of these companies, I would be getting pure oils without preservatives and additives. Many store-bought brands include dangerous additives and preservatives in their oils. I definitely did not want those! And there is no question, these three companies are pure. Rocky Mountain Oils has their SAAFE promise. Young Living has their Seed to Seal guarantee. And doTerra also has a quality guarantee.
I have come to think that Rocky Mountain Oils has superior quality in most of their singles and blends! You can get the GC/MS data on RMO website if you want more information about their quality. Since I knew I was choosing from quality companies, I moved onto the next most important check box on my list.
Safety and Information
After reading the book I mentioned above, I knew using oils safely was of extreme importance! (I’ll have to post about how I made myself sick with lavender oil!) Using oils wrong can have bad consequences. The company I felt had the most safe products, and the most easily accessible information about oils and how to use them, was Rocky Mountain Oils (RMO). If you go here on their website, you can see their SAAFE promise and read all about it. When you click on any oil on their site, it will give you more information than you ever wanted to know about that oil. They also include home recipes and tips on how to use them!
Rocky Mountain Oils provides the scientific name of the plant and exactly where the oil came from in the world. Many people have done extensive research into where each company has farms and gets their oils from. After reading RMO’s SAAFE promise, and knowing they have been in this industry of making oils for many years, I knew it would be safe ordering oils from them.
A side note: All three of these companies had very creative marketing and extremely pretty looking bottles! All three companies had more products than just oils, which was alluring. Some more than others. However, when looking at Young Living and doTerra companies, they really pushed ingesting the oils. Ingesting oils makes me very nervous! As it should. I understand that some oils are safe to ingest in the proper way. However, I do not think it is very safe to be promoting ingesting oils for beginners who are brand new to oils. It could be very dangerous if not done properly. That was a downside for me with these two companies.
The next thing I was interested in was the price of the oils from each company. Rocky Mountain Oils has great prices! They are not too cheap that you have to wonder what’s the catch? But they are also not so expensive to be out of reach or break our budget! Young Living and doTerra are always more expensive than RMO. And it seems to me that they are all pretty comparative oils. I have tried oils from all three companies, and they all work the same. If I pay more for a product, I expect it to be superior. Otherwise, I’ll take the deal!
Young Living and doTerra oils also have a start up cost to become a member and get better pricing on their products. However, you have to spend over a hundred dollars to buy a kit that has tons of oils in it. That sounds great. But, for someone like me who is just becoming interested, that is a big price tag. I did not want to pay a membership fee and then end up not liking their oils.
Rocky Mountain oils has no member cost. They simply sell their oils and know you will love them! They also have a great return policy and there is always free shipping to those in the United States. RMO has an Oil’ty rewards system too, so you get points for every purchase and can earn $10-$40 voucher! They have great customer service and will answer any questions you have. Which leads me to the main reason I chose Rocky Mountain Oils…
Company – MLM or Not?
Which essential oil company is best? To me, the biggest question was MLM (multi-level marketing) company or not? I honestly don’t like MLM companies. There is just something about them and the bigger price tag on their products that makes me think they are hiding things or trying to make money off people. I just have never had a good experience with them.
I am also not a “sales person.” Which MLM companies seem to push on people. If you need an example, go back to my high school summer working at Victoria’s Secret! That was a terrible job for me because I never wanted to push people into buying a product they didn’t like or had questions about. And yet the company pushes you to push people. I hated it. If you haven’t noticed, my husband and I are pretty frugal people. Pushing people to buy something is just so uncomfortable for me! Anyway, I get that pushy, we are trying to sell you something type of vibe from MLM companies.
Rocky Mountain Oils is not an MLM company. Like I said before, you simply go on their website and buy what you want. No membership fee. No monthly purchase needed to keep your “status” or discounts. Just find a product that interests you, and buy it! There are still rewards, Oil’ty points and sales with this company. You just don’t have to “buy in” to it.
So Which Essential Oil Company Did I Choose?
ROCKY MOUNTAIN OILS!
I felt that this was the best company for me to use. I absolutely love it! However, I know a ton of people who love Young Living and doTerra as well. And honestly, as long as you love the products and service you are getting, I don’t see anything wrong with continuing to use them! I am not bashing other oil companies. I am simply sharing this information which helped me make an informed decision. Because seriously, it’s so confusing! So go with what you love!
